An Enigma is exposed

Just for those who might be wondering about the content of this post, it will be all about India's early exit from T20 WC' 09. The views expressed here will 'only' be mine. Comments are welcome from those who agree, others don't need to waste their time.
As the speculations about T20 WC'09 were heating up, everybody expected Indian team to lift the cup again. And why not so, they had an able leadership under Mahendra Singh Dhoni, fierce some batsmen like Viru, Raina, Yuvraj, Pathan and a good combination of spin & swing bowling as required by english wickets. All of them were heroes in the just finished IPL'09 within their respective abilities.
The team started off well beating Pakistan in the practice game. The group encounters also went well with the team coming on top. Then came the crunch match with a team that can beat any on their day, West indies. The odds favored Indian team but somehow they lost it. Dwayne Bravo, who can now be termed as a complete T20 player, took the game away from them, making complete mockery of all the Indian bowlers and that too in Calyspo style. Not to mention, Dhoni and a lot many players in the Indian team must be new to that style of playing cricket and cannot do anything else except watching, praying & praising. They were watching a complete batsman taking the game away from them, with every ball he hits. Nothing was being spared whether it was a short pitched, fuller length or a flighted one.
Then came the 'Do Or Die' game. Dhoni's boys with their brilliance and vast shot making abilities were again the favorites. I myself had plans to watch only the first six overs of Indian batting as I had belief that Indian players will finish the game there itself. I support Dhoni's choice of opting to field first after winning the toss as the Lord's pitch has bounce and ball can move around. So, its better to restrict the other team to a low total and chase that down.
But, as the English inning came to an end, they somehow managed to achieve a total of 153 which was not a daunting one by any measure but yet competitive, under given conditions. To achieve this total, they were helped by some poor Indian bowling and fielding in pressure situation. I wont name the culprits but they are the vastly talented, very experienced yet too inconsistent players of the Indian team.
In came the Indian opening pair of Gambhir and Rohit. Both were looking pretty confident yet one can get a feel that they were all the way suspicious about whats in the offering by the English bowlers. Jamie Anderson started off well and one can straight away feel the pressure of chasing a decent total in the feet movement of an out of form batsman, Gambhir. Rohit, who has been palying superbly except the last game tried to ease the nerves by trying to pull a 'not-so-short' yet bouncy delivery to sqaure leg. But, that was just the game plan, English bolwers had. With in next 4 overs, it was no longer a mystery to Indians. They knew that the opposition had gauged their inability to tackle the short pitched and pacey deliveries. Rohit was followed by Raina, who came into the WC carrying a brilliant form from IPL. I assume he lost the form while sitting in the Dug Out with a loss of oppurtunities to play his shots. The team's thinktank showed a tendency to rely on the 'batsman' who can stabilize the inning (? in a T20 game, very weird), rather than the big hitting in form batsmen. Then came the surprise package of the game straight out of the team's able leadership's and super strategist's mind, Ravinder Jadeja. Playing in his first WC game, and that too in the conditions totally stranger to him, he was entrusted with the task of pulling India out of the tense situation. And this happened when the likes of Yuvraj, Pathan and Dhoni himself, were waiting in the dug out. The idea as was revealed later was again to stabilize the inning so that the big hitters can just come and do bang bang towards the end. It was as simple a plan as that, but the role of stabilizer in the difficult conditions, was given to a new boy trying to prove himself. It was never thought, what a serious dent his infailure can give to his confidence as well as career at this point. But the so called seniors had little concern for that.
Without much surprise, the young fighter failed to come to terms with the English conditions and the short pitched deliveries.
Gambhir tried to bring some momentum to the indian inning, but perished soon with his hopes left high and dry. In came the only real hope from the Indian team, Yuvraj singh and what a wonderful shot he played of the first delivery he faced from Dimmy. Dimmy must be happy that his over had finished there, o/w Yuvraj was looking in a mood to take revenge of the 4 sixers. Jadeja finally decided to step out of the crease to hit Swann over his head but fell to a beautifully judged catch by Broad at Long on. In came, finally the captain, with 69 required from 39. Even this was a surprise move by the mighty Indian thinktank as a super specialist of these situations, Yusuf Pathan, was still sitting in the dug out waiting to hit the last six of the last ball. Yuvraj fell soon after hitting two promising hits over long on, but that can be digested without any qualms as we are used to seeing this inconsistency and negligence towards the required over his long career.
In came the latest sensation of Indian cricket, Yusuf Pathan, the baap of Afridi. And right away he was banged with the short pitched ones, but that did not seem to deter him as he looked determined in his approach and knew what a big chance that was for him. He made his intentions clear by straight away hitting everything hurled to him, with an equal may be even larger force in the outfield. But, to my surprise, his partner, who was once upon a time (i am not talking about centuries here) regarded as the most powerful hitter of the cricket ball, was just making way for singles and doubles. The task required was 66 from 36, and was very evident that it was not a single man's job. Pathan, seemed to understand this but his captain seemed to have lost it. The rope was cleared by Pathan twice but Dhoni did not even care to show some intentions towards achieving the same. In the end, the inevitable as regarded by Dhoni happened. India lost by 3 runs inspite of a breezy, confident and result oriented inning by Pathan. On the other hand, Dhoni contributed with a seemingly quick 30 composed of untimed shots, few outer edges to 3rd man boundary, some singles & doubles and a hopeless approach.
Even if this was not enough, the indian captain came out to the media, defending his decision to pour out Jadeja to pacify the inspired English bowling and save his reliables for the finish. He remarked that Indian batsmen failed to hit when it was required, but was not he the only culprit here. You cann't and shouldn't blame a young player like Jadeja for your own follies. When it goes wrong, you need to accept it. To downplay the effect of the defeat, he even went down to making a reference towards the early Indian exit in 2007 WC. Why was that required here ?

Nobody asked him, but it should be asked, does he know how to accept defeat ? May be as commented by media his honeymoon is over !!

Evolution of a God !!

The title of post might be confusing/impious for many, but I always wanted to write down my thoughts about the above phenomenon.

To start with, I should explain what does Godliness means to me. It pertains to an entity, real/fictitious, seen/unseen but believed to be omnipresent/omnipotent. Gods are considered as sacred, caring, always righteous and the reason behind every creation. People want to believe in their powers, when things are going out of their own hands. There are books/myths/realities narrating their divine/superhuman/magical powers. Some books are totally meant for describing their teachings and how they should be incorporated in a person's daily life. They have their own reserved houses, where prayers/sacrifices can be offered, and days in respective calendars, when their followers should worship them without fail. All these things constitutes various facets of a religion started by the followers of a particular god.

Now, the question is how do Gods evolve ?? The major contributors, as understood by me, are people & time. Every era, has some persons who are treated as sacred/'close to God' by others. Reasons can be plenty. People find it comfortable to follow/listen to such persons during adverse times of their life. They start offering prayers and respecting them, in ways of their own, assuming this will lead to salvation. Concrete structures are built symbolizing faith in them. Their teachings get published whether on banana leaves/stones/walls/paper depending on the means available in that era. Not to forget, with the change of times, the views/philosophies of these persons get modified.
Who is the culprit ? Some of their own intelligent powerful followers !!
What is the motive ? To achieve specific interests and be supreme !!
Why play with the teachings ? Because they form the basis of a religion which people follow blindly and fear !!

Time moves on and so does the number of people, following these symbols/teachings. The faith becomes stronger and feeling grow deeper. The person behind these feelings acquires a Godly status in the minds of his followers. Hence, with time, a new God is created with a philosophy of his own which is powerful enough to later constitute the basis for a new religion.

Just to clear any doubts, I am a religious person believing in the existence of these unconceivable elements and love them unconditionally.
